DERBY LAD DROWNED
SAD ACCIDENT AT BULFORD CAMP

‘Sapper Ernest Baxter, of the Royal Engineers, son of Mr. J. Baxter, of Derby, a well known member of the Beaconsfield Club. On Tuesday last young Baxter, who had recently joined his corps as a recruit, was engaged in some bridge operation with an improvised raft, when it overturned, and he was drowned.’
Ernest Baxter was employed at Ley’s Works.
